About Marsha Lewis Brown

Regional Director of the Significant South Atlantic Region

Marsha Lewis Brown was elected Regional Director of the South Atlantic Region during the 58th South Atlantic Regional Conference on April 24, 2010. Superiorly intelligent, she is caring and deeply dedicated to perpetuating the ideals and principles upon which our great sisterhood was founded. She brings the same degree of commitment to the office of Regional Director as has been her trademark during her 38 years of membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Respected and admired in her home chapter, Gamma Theta Omega located in Tampa, Florida, Marsha Lewis Brown has served as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian. Having served over time with distinction, Marsha Lewis Brown has been named Soror of the Year, Soror in the Spotlight, President Meritorious, and recipient of the noteworthy Chapter Leadership Award.

A role model and mentor for young professionals, Marsha Lewis Brown’s life reflects the Scripture that says “to whom much is given; much is required”.  Her record of service and ability to relate to all ages was key to her selection for the 2003, Cluster II Robin L. Young Spirit Award.

Marsha Lewis Brown’s Regional involvement includes the following: 2004 1st Place South Atlantic Regional Conference awardee of the Margaret Davis Bowen Outstanding Alumna Soror; 2006 to 2010 chairman of the South Atlantic Regional Heritage Committee; A four-year chairmanship of the South Atlantic Regional Standards Committee; A four-year chairmanship of the South Atlantic Regional Leadership Development Committee; and 1999 General Conference Chairman for the South Atlantic Regional Conference, Orlando, Florida.  She served four years as a member of the sorority’s International Standards Committee.

The consummate professional, Marsha Lewis Brown, a licensed clinical social worker, is the Chief Executive Officer of Northside Mental Health Center, Incorporated. Her professional recognitions include the following:  2006 Minority Business Person of the Year; Executive Services Corporation’s Executive Director of the Year; and Price Waterhouse’s Up-and-Comer Award recipient.

Marsha Lewis Brown’s civic and social affiliations include: The Athena Society; The Tampa Chapter of The Links, Inc.; and Life Membership in the National Council of Negro Women. Most importantly, recognizing that her ability to lead and serve is a gift from God, she is an ever-evolving Christian growing in her faith at the New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida.
